Bottle of Water

Two in the afternoon, climbing into a swealtering bus, my eyes scanning for an open seat. I plop down, piling up my bags.
A guy squeezes past another one to get to his seat by the window reserved by his own pile of bags.
Sweat rolls down everyone's brow.
Condensation drips off his cold water bottle.
Before opening it, he offers it to the young guy next to him, not just once, two or three times with earnestness on his face and in his voice. Some things in a culture make your heart smile.

Before you take another sip of living water, ask yourself where the parched person is around you.
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
John 4:10
